Abstract

1449514 Purification of waste gases VOLVO FLYGMOTOR AB 1 Dec 1973 55789/73 Heading F4B A combustion apparatus for the purification of waste gases has an outer casing 1 with coaxial flame tube 6 and waste gas inlet 2 with fuel injection device 3 giving a support flame that can be quickly brought to expand over the whole cross section of the combustion chamber by holding means 5 around the injection device. Waste gas entering the inlet 2 will be forced through a flame curtain which will heat the gas to the temperature necessary to destroy impurities. Air from inlet 7 cools the flame tube by passing through the gap with the outer casing and into the flame tube via peripheral slots in the tube. Additional air from inlet 7 also passes through inlets 8 to cool injection device 3 and associated items, and is fed centrally into the combustion chamber for controlling the final temperature at outlet 10.
