Abstract

1449446 Electro-depositing black chromium DR W KAMPSCHULTE & CIE 1 April 1975 [5 April 1974] 13130/75 Heading C7B Black Cr is electro-deposited from an acidic SO 4 -free bath containing Cr (VI) and 15-45 g/l of boric acid or a salt thereof the amount of salt being calculated as free acid. Optional additives include up to 5 g/l inorganic N-compound e.g. HNO 3 or NaNO 3 , up to 0.25 g/l of HF, HBF4 or H 2 SiF 6 or a salt thereof e.g. K 2 SiF 6 , an organic carboxylic acid e.g. up to 20 g/l oxalic acid (which generates Cr (III)), and 10-40 g/1 K OH. Exemplary baths also contain BaCO 3 . A c.d. of 8-20 A/dm<SP>2</SP> at 18-28‹C is specified.
