Abstract

1449335 Mounting a nozzle unit on the bottom of a metallurgical ladle NIPPON KOKAN KK KOKAN KIKAI KOGYO KK and TOKYO YOGYO KK 25 Jan 1974 [12 Feb 1973] 03561/74 Heading F4B A nozzle unit 1, for controlling discharge of molten metal from the bottom of a ladle 8, is mounted on the ladle bottom by placing the ladle with its bottom surface vertical, lowering the nozzle unit by a crane so that rollers 4 mounted on each side of the nozzle unit engage grooves in guide arms 10 projecting from the ladle bottom at each side of the position where the nozzle unit is to be mounted, moving the nozzle unit along the arms into position at the ladle bottom, and securing the nozzle unit in position by means of eye bolts 13 which are hinged on the ladle bottom and can be engaged with bolt holes 7 on the nozzle unit. The nozzle unit comprises a stationary plate having a hole therein, a sliding plate provided with nozzles 5, and a turning gear 6 for the sliding plate. Means 12 drive the turning gear 6.
