Abstract
1449058 Automatic control of speed CANON KK and CANON SEIKI KK 16 Aug 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38867/73 Heading G3R [Also in Division H2] In a rectroactive speed control system for a brushless D.C. motor, wherein the speed of the motor is detected by Hall generators which produce pulses the frequency of which represents the motor speed, a voltage representative of this frequency being compared with a reference signal, any difference being used to vary the gain of a control circuit for the motor drive. As shown, the outputs of the Hall generators H 1 H 2 pass via a converter 5 to comparator 6 where they are compared with a fixed speed referance as determined by potentiometer R14 and Zener diode ZD1. The comparator output via amplifier 6' is used to control, in accordance with the output, the gain of amplifiers A 1 to A 4 , which amplify the Hall generator outputs to sequentially energize the motor stator windings L1-L4. The system may also include means to apply braking current to the stator windings, if the detected speed is in excess of the reference speed by more than a predetermined amount. Thus, the output from the comparator may be switched to amplifiers A 1 to A 4 , to braking control tranistors (Tr 21 to Tr 24 or to both, Fig. 6 (not shown). Braking is caused by reverse current flow through the stator winding.
