Abstract

1448199 Portable bridges B WRIGHT 4 Dec 1973 [28 Nov 1972] 54899/72 Heading E1G [Also in Division B8] A portable bridge or ramp (Fig. 4) comprises a chassis or hull having parallel box section members which contain telescopically extensible members, all the members having adjacent upper surfaces for defining a roadway, and elevating means at at least one end for controlling the angle of the extended members. The end members have inclined portions which allow vehicles to drive onto the bridge or ramp. A second set of telescopic members 1 may be pivotally connectible to the first by lugs 2 and are manouvered by a crane 5 having an adjustable boom 7 and a telescopic mast 6. Slats for forming the bridge deck may be stored between the box section members and raised by hydraulic rams and moved into position by a winch and a cable reeved to the box sections. Members may extend telescopically from both ends of the box section members.
