1448005 Electric incandescent lamps GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 4 Dec 1973 [4 Dec 1972] 56147/73 Heading H1F A halogen cycle differential output lamp of the short-circuited connector type comprises an elongated envelope containing an axially extending differential output filament having separate and distinct segments, some of which are lit more brilliantly than others, and connector sections which do not themselves incandesce, and a filling consisting of an inert gas together with hydrogen and chlorine, the hydrogen being present in an amount which varies between up to 1À4 Î 10<SP>-7</SP> gram atoms per cc. of bulb volume for the minimum amount of chlorine and up to 7À0 x 10<SP>-7</SP> gram atoms per cc. for the maximum amount of chlorine and the chlorine being present in an amount which varies between a maximum of 13À5 Î 10<SP>-7</SP> gram atoms per cc. and a minimum which depends on the intended duty cycle of the lamp, the ratio in gram atoms of hydrogen to chlorine being less than or equal to 1. In a lamp intended to be operated in a duty cycle having an "off" time between 0 and 10 seconds the minimum amount of chlorine present is 2À7 Î 10<SP>-7</SP> gram atoms per cc. whereas in a lamp intended to be operated in a duty cycle having an "off" time between 10 and 28 seconds the minimum amount of chlorine is 5À4 x 10<SP>-7</SP> gram atoms per cc. The chlorine is preferably added in the form of carbon tetrachloride.
