Abstract

1447699 Excavator jib assemblies POCLAIN 1 Nov 1974 [22 Nov 1973] 47316/74 Heading E1F An excavator jib assembly having a variable geometry comprises a pre-boom 5a and a jib 7a rigidly joined by two connecting rods 31a, 32a, the rods being articulated to the pre-boom 5a about a common axis 30a and to the jib 7a about axes 16a and 17a. The jib 7a has a plurality of axes 16a to 20a so that to modify the geometry of the jib assembly from that shown in Fig. I it is necessary to dig the bucket 10a into the ground, release the connecting rod 31a from the axes 16a, and advance the excavator until the freed end of the connecting rod 31a can be articulated to the jib about axis 18a. The procedure may be repeated until the axis 20a is reached. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3) an adjustable stop (34a) is provided on the pre-boom 5a.
