Abstract

1447478 Clamps, scaffolding KWIKFORM Ltd 19 Oct 1973 [9 Dec 1972] 56950/72 Headings E1S, E2A and E2B A clamp for securing a walk-way to a large pipe comprises a beam for extending across the pipe and having pivoted feet mounted beneath it for resting on the pipe, and a tension means extending around the pipe between the ends of the beam for holding it in position. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the beam 12 which supports gang-planks 17 and hand-rails 13, 15, has feet 16 pivoted to depending legs 14, a screw-operated tension band 18 being attached at each end. As shown, tension is applied only by screws 23, 24 at the ends of the band, but this may be interrupted by additional screw tensioners (Fig. 3, not shown). In the form shown in Fig. 4, the top beam 42 has vertical end pieces 48 which support walks 62 and in which a lower beam 50, which is adjustable to accommodate different pipes, slides under the tension of chain tensioners 58, 59. Both beams carry hinged feet 46, 56.
