Abstract

1447257 Sliding panels INDUSTRIAL ACOUSTICS CO INC 30 Aug 1973 [31 Aug 1972] 40857/73 Heading E1J A movable wall panel suspendable on hangers comprises a body with top and bottom compartments in which casings 14 ,15 are telescopically retractable, the bottom casing being extensible by a device to support the panel and to press the resiliently mounted top casing against a ceiling. The top casing is biassed outwardly by springs 35 surrounding hanger studs 36 and has a rubber seal 33. Stud 36 contains a safety cable 81 in case of breakage of the stud. Jacks 40, (41, Fig. 1) in the bottom compartment are arranged for simultaneous operation and are secured to box member (51) which is tiltably attached to the body by bolts (52), thus providing tiltability of casing 15 which has a rubber-seal 45. The body comprises side walls 16, 17 and vertical end walls (26, 27, Fig. 3) of complementary tongue and groove form for interengagement of adjacent identical panels, the walls being of metal and containing glass fibre insulation. The panel is moved, into position on the hangers, the jacks then extending the casings 15 to lift the panel and disengage the hangers.
