Abstract
1446533 Space heaters ALFER ALUMINIUM - FERTIGBAU GmbH 15 Jan 1975 [15 Jan 1974] 1675/75 Heading F4S In a sectional space-heating radiator, each radiator section comprises an upright elongate column 1 (e.g. extruded from light alloy with a central bore 3) and the connecting means between adjacent columns is a tubular member 12 formed at each end thereof with a flange 14 which fits into a longitudinally extending slot 5 in the column, each flange 14 being shaped so that on assembly it may be inserted into the slot 5 (e.g. as in Fig. 6) and rotated (e.g. as in Fig. 5) so that it engages tightly between the lips 7 and base 38 of the slot 5. Preferably as shown in Fig. 2 at each end of the member 12 a projecting spigot 15 fits into a transverse bore 16 of the column. According to the kind of water flow path desired, e.g. a series flow through the radiator sections, some of the connectors may be as at 12b in Fig. 12, i.e. not forming part of the water flow path. Inlet and outlet connections may be alternatively situated in the radiator as indicated at 20, 21, 22, 25 and 26 in Fig. 1, plugs 4 and 24 being positioned as appropriate to the required water flow path. The column cross-section may be as shown in Fig. 2 wherein convection air ducts are provided by external fins or ribs 8, 9 and 11. In a modification (Fig. 7) stiffening pipes (27) may extend from end to end of the radiator assembly through the connectors 12 and the radiator sections.
