Abstract

1446443 Coating apparatus HOECHST AG 6 Aug 1973 [7 Aug 1972] 37163/73 Heading B2L [Also in Division Dl] In a method for producing random colour effects on a surface (e.g. the pile side of a carpet 8) dyeing liquor is dropped onto the surface from at least one horizontal disc 1 which is mounted above the surface and is rotated via a shaft 3. Dyeing liquor is supplied to the disc from a storage tank 10 via a metering pump 11. Shutters 4 are selectively positioned around the periphery of the disc to limit the angle α of spread of the dyeing liquid (Fig. 2a). Excess liquid caught by the shutters 4 is collected in pan 5 for recycling.
