Abstract
1446222 Carboxylic acid derivatives CIBAGEIGY AG 20 Aug 1973 [24 Aug 1972] 12948/76 Divided out of 1446221 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein one of the groups R 1 and R 2 denotes a hydrogen or a halogen atom or a lower alkyl, lower alkanoyl, lower alkoxy, free or hydroxyl, free or acylated amino group, trifluoromethyl or nitro group and the other denotes a saturated cycloaliphatic radical, X 2 denotes a free, esterified or amidized carboxyl group and n denotes an integer from 1 to 3, with the proviso that if R 2 denotes cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl group, n is 1, and salts thereof. The term lower indicates radicals containing up to 7 carbon atoms. The compounds may be prepared by hydrolysing or alcoholizing the corresponding compounds wherein X 2 is CN, by oxidizing the corresponding compounds wherein X 2 is hydroxymethyl or acyl, by reacting the corresponding compounds where X 2 represents one equivalent of a metal atom or Mg-halogen with carbon dioxide, an ester or half-ester of carbonic acid or a carbonic acid halide ester, or by reducing a compound of the formula The groups representing X 2 may be converted to others of the groups representing X 2 . The compounds may be used in pharmaceutical compositions.
