Abstract

1441420 Substituted piperidines CIBAGEIGY AG 22 Aug 1973 [24 Aug 1972 3 July 1973] 39744/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R 1 represents an optionally substituted aryl radical, R 2 represents H, C 1 to C 7 alkyl, C 2 to C 7 alkenyl, carboxylic acyl or α-aryl-(C 1 to C 7 ) alkyl, R 3 represents a free, etherified or esterified OH group, 'alk' represents a C 2 to C 7 alkylene radical which separates the two N atoms from one another by 2 or 3 C atoms, R 4 represents H or C 1 to C 7 alkyl and n represents 1 to 4 and their acid addition salts. They may be obtained either by reacting a compound of the formula with a compound of the formula wherein either X is R 3 and Z is a reactive esterified OH group or X and Z together form an epoxy group, or by reacting a compound of the formula R 1 OH with a compound of the formula Examples are given for the preparation of the compounds. They are useful in pharmaceutical preparations. 1-[Piperidyl-(4)]-imidazolidinone-(2) is obtained by hydrogenating 1-(4-pyridyl)-imidazolidinone in the presence of Ru/charcoal catalyst. 1-(4-pyridyl)-imidazolidinone-(2) is obtained by heating with a solution of sodium ethylate in ethanol N-(4-piperidyl) -N-#-chloroethyl-urea which is itself obtained by reacting #-chloroethyl isocyanate with a solution of 4-aminopiperidine in DMF.
