1445848 Battening uneven surfaces HEATH & JOINER (CONTRACTORS) Ltd 26 July 1974 [2 Aug 1973] 36758/73 Heading E1W A vertical batten or stile I comprises a straight rigid elongate member having a pair of spaced flanges defining an undercut channel configuration along all or part of its length and is secured to a rigid surface 6 by means of at least one backing plate 2 keying in the channel and secured through at least one resiliently deformable element 3 to the surface 6. The securement may be by means of screws 5 tightened by inserting a driver through holes, not shown, in the base of the channel. The resilient material may be high density closed cell neoprene foam.
