Abstract

1445812 Magnetically levitated transport systems KRAUSS-MAFFEI AG 8 Jan 1974 [25 Jan 1973] 00807/74 Addition to 1393642 Heading B7L In a transport system having a magnetically suspended and guided vehicle travelling along a track 6, a trackway element 1 comprises a U-shaped armature rail 4 for co-operation with magnets arranged in rows on the vehicle for suspension and guidance thereof, and a connecting rail 3 which is secured (such as by welding) to the rail 4 (or integral therewith) and anchored in a rail carrier beam 2, all of the rails 3 and 4 and carrier beam 2 extending longitudinally along the element. The rail 3 is partially embedded in reinforced concrete of which the carrier beam 2 is formed. In construction the rails 3 and 4 are oriented according to the desired course of the track and welded together to form a rail unit of which the neutral axis is located in the contact plane of the two rails. End portions 12 of limbs 11 of the rail 3 have borings 13 and/or eyes 14 which are then engaged by reinforcing members for the carrier 2, which is then formed by casting to give a pre-stressed concrete structure. The concrete rail carrier 2 consists in section of a box profile in which rail 3 is anchored, and an L-shaped profile 18, 8 of which the upright limb 18 supports the box profile and the base limb 8 is screwed on adjusting plates 9 to spaced trackway supports 7. Bolted onto the armature rail 4 are a linear motor reaction rail 5 and an angle rail 20 which increases rigidity of the element and its upright leg 21 may be acted on by mechanical brakes of the suspended vehicle and may serve as an emergency support surface if the magnetic suspension should fail. Contact rails 15 to supply the vehicle with electricity are carried by the limb 18.
