Abstract
1445543 Cams; converting rotary into reciprocating motion FERNSTEUERGERATE KURT OELSCH KG 5 April 1974 [10 April 1973] 15279/74 Heading F2K A radially extending adjustable contour spiral cam 22 of a disc 12 fast on a rotatable input shaft 10 acts via a pivoted rocker arm 26, or a radially slidable cam follower (50, 72) (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) to linearly move a member 40 forming the input member of an inductive displacement pick-up 42. The angular displacement of the shaft 10 may, according to the readily adjustable cam contour 24, transform the angular displacement of the shaft 10 into a linear displacement of the member 40 which is related proportionally, i.e. according to a linear function, or according to any other predetermined, i.e. ncn-linear function, to said angular displacement. As shown (Fig. 5 and Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) the adjustable contour spiral cam is formed by a flexible steel strip 84 arranged over a number of eccentrically adjustable support pins 80, the strip 84 being secured at one end 86 and tensioned over the pins 80 by a spring 90 at its other end. Screw driver slots 82 formed in the ends of the pins 80 enable the pins 80 to be eccentrically adjusted to adjust the spiral cam contour of the flexible strip to any required form within the limits of the eccentric support pins 80. In Figs. 8 to 10 the flexible strip 84 is replaced by a wire (94) seated in V-grooves (96) formed in the eccentric adjuster studs 80. In Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown) the flexible cam contour strip or wire is carried by mountings (176) radially adjustable in slots in the cam disc by the eccentrically ended pins.
