Abstract

1444568 Ink droplet printers RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT LABORATORIES OF OHNO CO Ltd 26 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972 (3)] 54826/73 Headings B6F and B6P An ink droplet printer comprises a nozzle 3, an electrode plate 5 having a hole therein coaxial with the nozzle 3, and a ring 9 coaxial with the nozzle and located either around the exit end of the nozzle 3 or between the nozzle and the electrode plate, an electrical potential being applied to the ring to control the flow of ink through the hole in the plate 5 on to a record medium 6 behind the plate 5. The potential applied to the ring 9 may be varied by a photoconductive switching element 12. A plurality of recording heads may be located side-by-side to record characters on a moving strip, the recording heads each being shielded by a conductive cylinder. The nozzle outlet is preferably rounded as at 20, and the rounded outer surface coated in liquid-repellent material. The nozzle may be made of stainless steel, copper, brass, iron, or conductive glass or plastics.
