1444487 Delivering sheets GEORGE HARTLEY & SONS Ltd 2 Oct 1974 42840/74 Heading B8R A collating machine comprises a table 1 for locating piles of sheets therealong, and a table 2 parallel to the table 1 and having a plurality of slots 5 through which project fingers 6 mounted on endless driven chains, the table 2 receiving sheets from the piles, e.g. by a suction transfer mechanism. The tables 1, 2 comprise locations or stations 3, 4, therealong. In one form of operation, one pile is present at each station and the sheets therefrom are received directly on the table 2. In another form of operation, a removal support structure 7 is placed at each station on the table 2 and two piles at each station on the table 1. Each structure 7 comprises two inclined receiving surfaces 8, 9 connected at 16. The front end is supported on a bar 10 having depending pins to engage perforations 12 in the rear end of the next support and perforations in the cable. Alternatively, each support 7 may comprise two springy steel plates each secured at their rear ends by pins to holes in the cable and each sloping upwardly and forwardly.
