Abstract

1444476 Dissolving gas in liquids BOC INTERNATIONAL Ltd 18 March 1975 [26 March 1974] 13364/74 Heading B1C In a method of dissolving gas in a liquid for example oxygen in water, 'the gas is supplied to a conduit 4 from which extend a plurality of filament type flexible tubes 2 which are made from semi permeable or micro-porous material, the tubes being immersed in the liquid and the gas supplied under pressure whereby as the gas passes through the permeable or microporous material micro-bubbles are formed and the gas therein becoming dissolved in the liquid. The tubes are preferably less than 5 mm diameter and may be up to 5 metres in length depending on the aerating requirements of the liquid and the nature of the system. In operation in rivers or sewers and other industrial effluent channels, the gas pressure being preferably 5 p.s.i. or above.
