Abstract

1458212 Aerobic treatment of sewage BOC INTERNATIONAL Ltd 28 Feb 1974 [1 March 1973] 10081/73 Heading C1C [Also in Division B1] A process for the aerobic treatment of aqueous waste materials comprises introducing the aqueous waste material into a deep treatment tank in which there is direct access between the atmosphere and the gas immediately above the material, and passing a gas having an O 2 content greater than air into the material at one or more points near the base of the tank, the O 2 -containing gas being introduced through one or more porous diffusers as fine bubbles such that the oxygen dissolves before reaching the upper surface of the material. The tank is preferably 4-10 metres deep and the air bubble diameters are preferably 0À05 to 0À15 mm.
