Abstract

1444210 Pierceable stoppers BECTON DICKINSON & CO 25 April 1975 [26 April 1974] 17352/75 Heading B8T A preferably butyl rubber stopper for sealing tubes, e.g. blood sample tubes, includes a body 1 surmounted by a coaxial head 2 with a bore 3 extending through the body and head and closed by a membrane 6 located below the head, a portion 7 of the bore tapering upwardly above the membrane to a construction 9 above which the bore comprises a divergent part 8 constituted by a portion 8A and a more divergent portion 8B. The apex angles of the frustoconical parts of the bore are chosen so that, when removing a needle from the membrane, blood drops are retained in the portion 7.
