Abstract
1443871 Concrete columns VIPOSA VIVIENDAS POPULARES SA 15 Jan 1974 01789/74 Heading E1W A prefabricated concrete column comprises upper and lower prismatic portions, the upper portion being of smaller cross section than the lower so that an abutment surface 2 is defined between them for supporting horizontal beams. The height of the column above the foundation is adjusted by means of a screw bolt 10 engaging in an internally threaded sleeve 9 embedded in the base of the column. A steel plate 4 forms a bearing on the abutment surface and the larger part of the plate is embedded in the column. The beam and column are connected by welding between the plate 4 and a corresponding bearing plate on the beam (not shown). Also projecting reinforcement rods 6 from the column are welded to corresponding rods projecting from the beam end. Bearing surfaces may be formed on opposite sides of the column.
