Abstract

1443730 Switching apparatus HAZEMEIJER BV 29 Oct 1973 [30 Oct 1972] 50235/73 Heading H1N Three-phase switching apparatus comprising an insulating stationary portion 1 in which fixed contacts, not shown, are embedded and three symmetrically arranged movable switching caps 3, one shown in Fig. 1, each containing bridging conductors has a switching-on mechanism consisting of a movable cylinder 4 to which the caps 3 are attached together with symmetrically arranged shoes 6 slidable on guides 7 towards a magnetic holding device comprising an arrangement of permanent magnets 10 which retains an armature 11 on the cylinder 4 when the apparatus is in the switched-on position against the stored energy of a set of springs 9 fixedly located on a bracket 8 and attached to the shoes 6 so that the springs are stretched during the switching-on process. In the magnetically retained position the armature 11 rests against a flat 15 of a D-shaft 12 which can be rotated by means of a lever arm 16 being pressed by a pin 17 to disengage the magnetic hold and the apparatus is then switched off by the stored energy of the springs 9. In series connection with its switching cap 3 each phase of the switching apparatus is provided with a fuse 18, Fig. 2, incorporating a striking pin 22 which, when a fuse blows, pushes a permanent magnet 21 towards another permanent magnet 24 located on the other side of a wall 23 forming part of the insulating stationary portion 1. As shown in Fig. 3 the permanent magnets 24 are mounted on the arms of a spider 25 normally lying against an abutment pin 27 and which forms the rotor of a magnetic motor rotatable under magnetic unbalance conditions to rotate clockwise about a pivot 26 so that a projection 28 causes a pendulum 29 to swing anticlockwise about a pivot shaft 30 until its arm carrying a bevelled portion 32 strikes an abutment 31 during which movement the bevelled portion 32 passes over the end of pin 17 and pushes the pin axially to release the magnetic holding device as described. The shaft 30 has an extension 33 by which the pendulum can be reset or be swung manually to release the magnetic holding device. Specification 1,099,901 is referred to.
