Abstract

1443582 Two-part couplings BENDIX CORP 13 June 1974 [13 June 1973] 26322/74 Heading H2E A connector comprises a double-ended 1, 3 contact carrying an RF filter and mounted in a housing 40, and a contact 50 releasably mounted within the housing and adapted to be attached to a wire 60 and matable with the end 3. The housing 40 is a tubular conductive shell and mounts the double-ended contact and filter by means of a conductive member 42 soldered at 70 and serving as an earth connection to the filter; rigid and resilient inserts 46, 47 respectively and an epoxy thermosetting compound 45 hold the filter air tightly within the hosing. The contact 50 is releasably mounted within a passage in a rigid dielectric insert 48 and a resilient dielectric grommet 43 by means of a retainer 9 comprising resilient fingers 49 which snap-engage a shoulder 53 on the contact. Annular ribs within the passage of grommet 43 grip the wire 60 crimped to the contact 50, the grommet 43 and insert 48 being retained in the housing by a sealant 44.
