Abstract

1443293 Charging coal gasifiers METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 17 Oct 1974 [22 Oct 1973] 45114/74 Heading F4B A high pressure gasifier includes a coal feeder comprising a rotary distributor 5 with a vertical axis and delivery shoots 13 and 14 each inclined in a trailing direction, wherein in plan view a line joining said vertical axis to the radially outermost point of the leading edge of the shoot makes an angle (s) of 5-20 degrees with a line parallel to the leading edge and passing through said vertical axis. The distributor 5 is secured to a hollow drive shaft 6 and has a hub 9 to which are attached hollow stirring arms 10 and 11 cooled by water supplied through the shaft 6. The leading surface 20 of each shoot makes an angle (#) of 30-60 degrees with the horizontal and the shoot outlet opening 19 is inclined at an angle (γ) of 3-10 degrees to the horizontal. The axis A of each shoot is inclined at an angle (α) of 8-22 degrees to the vertical. The hollow water cooled walls 3 of the gasifier are extended to form the coal hopper 4 above the distributor 5.
