Abstract
1442228 Nuclear reactor containments COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 25 June 1974 [26 June 1973] 28140/74 Heading G6C In a fast reactor cooled by circulation of a liquid metal (e.g. sodium) contained within a main vessel surrounding the core, the vessel is suspended from a top closure slab comprising a metal bed-plate, a concrete overlayer in which a system of cooling ducts is embedded, and a lining formed by a heat-insulating structure secured beneath the bed-plate by a retaining plate. The structure is preferably formed as a mattress of metal netting. The structure may be secured directly against the underside of the bed-plate, or to an intermediate plate spaced from the bed-plate so as to afford a gas-filled enclosure. Various different embodiments are described in detail.
