Abstract

1442196 Making electric switches AMP Inc 8 Nov 1973 [13 Nov 1972 (3)] 51798/73 Heading B3A [Also in Division H1] A lead frame for a switch device (see Division H1) comprises end strips 26 and side strips 28, in rectangular configuration, with contact members 30 normal to and integral with the side strips 28, the whole being stamped from spring tempered conductive sheet, such as phosphor bronze or beryllium copper, to produce a continuous strip of flat blanks (20, Fig. 2, not shown) joined by narrow strips (32) and having positioning holes (27) in the end strips 26. The blank is then bent into a channel shape as in Fig. 3 and some of the members 30 are swaged at 44 thus increasing their length and flexibility to form spring arms 46. In a modified arrangement (Fig. 14, not shown) the blank is not bent into a channel shape but only the inner ends of contact members are bent up, including laterally-extending spring arms (46<SP>11</SP>) which are swaged (at 44<SP>11</SP>).
