Abstract

1441846 Vibrating articles OSAKA GAS KK and TEIKOKU SANSO KK 28 Dec 1973 60104/73 Heading F4H Apparatus for freezing articles in a bath of liquefied gas comprises a tank 3 having an inlet end 4 and an outler end 6, and means 16 whereby the tank 3 is vibrated causing the articles to pass through the tank. The tank is in the form of a double-walled thermally-insulated cylinder 12 having a raised outlet section 11 enabling the liquefied gas to be retained in a bath 5. The vibration means comprises two inclined plate springs 13 and 14 and a coiled spring 15. A crank shaft 18, connected to the cylinder 12 by a rod 23 and shock absorber 24, is mounted on a base 17 and is driven by an electric motor 19 through pulleys 20, 21 and a belt 22. The articles introduced into the tank via an inlet conveyer 2 are moved from the inlet end to the outlet end in a series of vibrational motions. The articles are thrown a number of times upwardly out of the liquefied gas and forwardly toward the outlet end. Excess refrigerant vapour passes through a duet 32 and pump 33 to the inlet conveyer 2. The apparatus also includes a sensing device 31 to keep the level of liquefied gas in the bath constant during operation of the vibration means. The articles may pass through the bath on the inner surface 8 of the cylinder or on a guide surface (not shown).
