Abstract
1,135,557. Vibratory finishing. J. F. RAMPE. 23 March, 1966 [24 March, 1965], No. 12790/66. Addition to 1,097,215. Heading B3D. In vibratory finishing apparatus as claimed in Claim 1 of Specification 1,097,215, the centre of mass of the carriage and tub with its design load and that of the counterpoise are in the region of the axis of the shaft, and the longitudinal axis of the tub is inclined at a small angle to that of the driving shaft as viewed in plan. Apparatus comprises, Fig. 3, a tub carriage C and counterpoises P, P<SP>1</SP> all connected by resilient shear mounts to a frame F and vibrated by a driving shaft 83. The tub T, Fig. 4, has feet 56 resting on a base plate 55 resting on longitudinal rails 20, 21 of the tub carriage, the rails being inclined as viewed in plan so that the tub axis 24 is inclined at angle 0 to the driving shaft axis. Angle 0 is less than 30 degrees and preferably is about 5 degrees. The lengths of the feet 56 are chosen so that in elevation the tub axis slopes down towards its outlet end at an angle less than 5 degrees and preferably about 1 degree. At its rear end the tub has a charging hopper 58, Fig. 6, joined to the rear wall 48 and sloping towards an inlet opening 59 in the wall. At its front end the tub has a tubular discharge elbow 51 rotatably supported in alignment with a discharge opening 50 in the front wall 49 by a clamping sleeve 52.
