Abstract

Tetrakisazo dyes of the formula (I) <IMAGE> in which R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, n, A, B, C, D, E and X are defined in Claim 1, are prepared. These dyes can be present as mixtures and are obtained by coupling suitable diazotised disazo compounds which are obtained by known methods onto naphthylaminesulphonic acids, resulting in trisazo compounds, diazotisation of the primary amino group, resulting in diazotised trisazo compounds, and finally by coupling these diazotised trisazo compounds onto a hydroxy- or amino-substituted benzene. These tetrakisazo dyes are suitable in particular for dyeing or printing leather in black shades.
