Abstract

1441735 Photo-sensitive materials MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 23 Oct 1974 45828/74 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive composition which comprises a hydrophilic binder in which is dispersed particles of (a) halogenated hydrocarbon capable of generating free radicals on exposure, (b) an N-vinyl compound capable of producing a colour with (a) an exposure and (c) an anti-oxidant of Formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are H or C 1-4 alkyl and R 3 is H, C 1 -4 alkyl, C 1 -4 alkoxy or hydroxy but R 1 and R 2 may be H only when R3 is alkoxy, (c) being present in an amount of 0À001 to 0À1 wt. per cent of (b). Specified anti-oxidant are 2,6-di-tbutyl phenol or cresol, b (methoxy or ethoxy)- phenol, 2,6-di-t-butyl-hydroquinone, and 2,4- dimethyl-6-t-butyl phenol. The composition is coated on a support, imagewise exposed, uniformly exposed to red light and heated to produce a negative coloured image as disclosed in Specification 1230151 followed by uniform exposure to visible light to fix the image. Comparisons are given using compositions containing imidazoles, xanthates, dithiocarbamates, thioureas and aminos. However the composition may also contain an amine anti-oxidant.
