Abstract

1440862 Metal door and pivot assembly EVANS PRODUCTS CO 2 April 1974 [25 July 1973] 14613/74 Heading E2F A pivot assembly in a metal folding door 10 comprises an elongate plastics (e.g. nylon) sleeve 30 which mounts in openings 32, 34 of flanges 18, 20 of a channel shaped stiffening section 16; a pivot rod 48 which is slidably received in the sleeve and has an enlarged head portion 50 to engage in a pivot socket 54; a spring 66 which biasses the head portion toward the socket; and a latch 64 which, prior to mounting of the door, releasably retains the head portion in a retracted position (Fig. 1). The latch 64 is integral with the sleeve 30 (as is a securing member 42) and when the door is in position a sharp blow on the end of pivot rod releases the latch and allows the head 50 to enter socket 54. The socket 54 is mounted in a plate portion 88 which can be adjustably positioned in a track 74. Alternatively the head portion may engage directly in the track when there is to be sliding movement along the track.
