1440588 Photo-electric turbidimeters ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 6 Nov 1973 [7 Nov 1972] 51457/73 Heading G1A Apparatus for measuring the turbidity of a gas is identical to that described in Patent Specification 1420002 but is modified by the provision of a member 40 to which is applied a negative potential so as to apply an electrostatic charge to the particles in the gas to prevent deposition on the discs 21, 22 or on the walls of the chamber 10, to which a potential of the same polarity is applied. A potential of opposite polarity is applied to baffle plate 42 to improve measurement accuracy, and substantially reduce contamination of the ambient air in the vicinity of the measuring apparatus. A negative potential is also applied to deflector plates 24 to improve gas flow through the chamber.
