Abstract
1440464 Laminates EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 July 1973 [30 June 1972] 31424/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division G1] A multilayer analytical element comprises a liquid-impermeable, light-transmitting support carrying at least one analytical reagent-containing layer on one of its surfaces and laminated to the reagent-containing layer a layer of cellulose acetate nitrate microporous membrane material having a thickness of 180 microns and an average pore size of 1À2 microns. The support may be a 0À004 or 0À007 inch thickness poly- (ethylene terephthalate) film or a 0À010 inch thickness cellulose triacetate film; polycarbonate supports and a thickness range of 0À002 to 0À010 inches are mentioned. The analytical reagent-containing layer may comprise gelatin, polyvinyl alcohol, a copolymer of acrylic acid and 2-acetoacetoxy ethyl methacrylate or cyanose. The laminate may be made by steaming the reagent-containing layer for several seconds to soften it, then pressing the membrane material layer into contact with the reagent-containing layer and rolling under light pressure to effect bonding.
