Abstract

1440080 Humidifier FIRTH CLEVELAND Ltd 18 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 43195/72 Heading B1R A humidifier comprises a hollow base member 1 forming a water trough, an absorption unit 6 comprising walls 7 and 8 and a multiplicity of spaced absorbent cards 9 which when the unit 6 is inserted into rectangular space 4 in the top of the member 1 one partially immersed in water contained in the trough, a cross flow fan 15 driving air through the absorption unit 6 and a water tank 43 removably located above or alternatively to the side of the trough and having a tube 44 and valve 45 to feed water to the trough. The tube 44 enters the base member 1 through hole 47 and hole 46 in casing 35 as the tank 43 is located in recess 42 provided in the casing 35. The valve 45 permits water to flow from the tank 43 to the trough as the valve stem 45d contacts a stirrup 45e within the base 1 thus lifting the valve head 45a clear of seating 45b. When the water level covers the end of tube 44 the flow ceases. An electric heating element 30 and the fan motor 21 are controlled by a humidistat 50 whose control knob 52 is apertured so that the induction of the fan draws air from the outside of the humidifier over the humidistat 50 and mixes it with the main air intake.
