Abstract

1440039 Folding door W RUNKA 10 May 1974 [15 May 1973] 20664/74 Heading E1J A panel assembly for a folding door comprises rigid panels 1 and flexible hinge members 2. The longitudinal edges of each panel are bent to form channels 3, 4 extending from the plane of the panel on opposite sides. Each channel has a transverse portion 5 and a bent-back portion 6. The hinge member comprises a web 7 and a pair of hook-shaped lipportions 8 with beads 11. When the door is in the collapsed position the hinge portion 2 extends round and engages in a pair of oppositely disposed channels; during extension the panels first rotate on the hinge members which then bend to allow the panels to open to a wide angle. The panels may be of metal and the hinge members of PVC.
