Abstract

1440018 Wall panel D W MILLER 9 July 1973 32581/73 Headings E1B and E1W A building structure comprises at least 2 rectangular building panels comprising a peripheral frame formed of four interconnected frame members, each member being of channel section with an inner web 17 and side webs 18, each side web 18 being bent inwardly to form spaced co-planar terminal flanges 19 across the mouth of the channel, the channel mouth being directed outwardly from the panel and rectangular facing sheets attached to each face of the frame and covering the full dimension of the panel, the terminal flanges 19 of the panels being held together in co-planar manner by tension means extending through the inner webs 17. The frame members may be joined at the corners of the panel by lugs 21 projecting from the end of the inner web of one member 14 engaging slots 22 formed in the inner web of the other member 13 which is preferably cut back to a level 20 above that of the inner web of the member 14. A number of cross-members 16 (Figure 4, not shown) may be provided within the frame. The frame members may be provided with holes for the passage of electrical leads. Upper frame members may be connected to a transverse purlin 28 via ananchor 27 lying within the channel of the frame member 14 and engaged beneath the terminal flanges thereof. The panels may be secured to the floor by cooperation with a hat section member 11 (Figure 4). The facing sheet may be integral or may consist of a fixed section and a removable skirting section on the bottom edge of the panel.
