Abstract

1439815 Measuring power NEW ZEALAND INVENTIONS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY 28 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 40499/73 Heading G1U Audio-frequency power superimposed upon a supply network is measured by sampling the current and voltage in the network, rejecting the supply-frequency components from the samples, passing the voltage sample through an adjustable phase-shifter, extracting the required audiofrequency signal by a narrow band filter, and multiplying the resulting current and voltage signals. A measurement of volt-amps is made by adjusting the phase shifter to give the largest product, and a measurement of power-factor by adjusting the phase shifter to give the least product, the setting of the phase shifter then indicating the phase angle.
