1428795 Measuring resistance KISHINEV NAUCH-ISSLED INST ELEKTROPRIBOROSTROENIA 23 Nov 1973 54582/73 Heading G1U The conversion ratio of a potential divider 4 (that is the ratio of the tapped output voltage across the lower resistor to the overall applied voltage) is measured by the following steps:- (a) firstly, with switches 10 and 11 in the positions shown, a second divider 1 is connected in parallel with the unknown divider 4, power 14 is applied, and the second divider is adjusted so that its output voltage equals the output voltage of the unknown divider 4, equality being indicated by a galvanometer 8, (b) balance having been achieved, switch 11 is reversed to insert a reference divider 7 in series in the second divider 1 and to replace the galvanometer 8 by a voltage measuring instrument 9, and (c) knowing the resistance of the lower resistor 3 in the second divider 1, the total resistance and the conversion ratio of the divider 7, the difference voltage indicated by meter 9, and the output voltage from the unknown divider 4 - this being displayed on a meter 6 - the required conversion ratio of the unknown divider can then be calculated.
