Abstract
1,086,749. Resistance testing. RANSBURG ELECTRO-COATING CORPORATION. Dec. 24, 1964 [Dec. 24, 1963], No.52405/64. Heading G1V. In a resistance tester comprising a valve 35 having a screen grid 38, and a measuring instrument 15 connected to measure the anode and screen current, the unknown resistance 45 is connected between a pair of terminals 12, 13 so as to form a potential divider with a resistor 44 in the control grid circuit. Calibration is effected by switching in a known resistor 48 in place of the unknown and adjusting the reading on meter 15 by means of a variable resistor 22. The instrument is arranged as a complete unit Fig. 1 (not shown) in which the terminals 12, 13 are a pair of prods rigidly mounted on the unit casing so that the whole instrument may be moved across a surface to measure the resistance of a coating layer.
