Abstract
1439692 Double bond isomerization of alkenes SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 16 July 1973 [17 July 1972] 33782/73 Heading C5E A process for the double bond isomerization of alkenes comprises contacting an alkene with a catalyst comprising an alkali metal compound supported on alumina which support has been activated at 350-700‹ C. in the presence of a non-oxidizing gas, e.g. an inert gas, CO 2 , CH 4 , N 2 , H 2 or a mixture thereof. The isomerization may be carried out at 20-250‹ C. The alkali metal compound may be K 2 CO 3 , K acetate, K formate, CsNO 3 or KNO 3 . Examples describe the double bond isomerization of n-eicosene-1 and of a mixture of n-decene-1 and n-eicosene-1.
