Abstract

1439604 Fluid pressure servomotor systems KODAK Ltd 4 July 1973 [ 4 July 1972] 31141/72 Heading G3P [Also in Divisions D1 and G1] A web coating arrangement comprises a roller 2 around which the web passes, an adjustable web coating device 4, and two air jet gauges 24, 26 for monitoring the gap between the device 4 and roller 2. The gauges 24, 26 may be fixed relative to the roller and co-operate with members 20, 22 fixed to the device 4, or the gauges may be fixed relative to the device 4 and co-operate with members fixed relative to the rollers. Each gauge may comprise an opening 36 from which the measuring jet is projected and an annular opening 42 from which a higher pressure conical protective jet is projected. The back pressure sensed by the gauges may be used to adjust the position of the device 4 by means of cylinders 16, 18 to maintain a constant gap, or may be used to display variations in the gap Fig. 3 (not shown). The arrangement may be used for applying photographic emulsion.
