Abstract

1439498 Steam generators; tube plates SIEMENS AG 4 Sept 1973 [4 Sept 1972] 41621/73 Headings F4A and F4S In a steam generator 1 a plurality of U- tubes 2 for conveying a first fluid (e.g. pressurized water from a pressurized water power reactor) is secured to a tube plate 8 and a second fluid (e.g. boiler feed water) is supplied in the direction of the arrows from a downchamber 12 and deflected by the lower end 13 of a sleeve 10 in the direction of the arrow 14 towards a central region 15 of the tube plate 8. To intensify the feed water flow the limbs 3, 4 of the U-tubes 2 spaced at irregular intervals, as shown in Fig. 1, or a series of deflecting plates 20, 21, 22, 23 may be provided as shown in Fig. 2. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the tube plate 8 is provided with an upwardly projecting portion at its centre to suppress dead zones in the feed water in the region of the upper face of the tube plate.
