Abstract
1438925 Steam generators COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 14 Aug 1974 [28 Aug 1973] 35842/74 Heading F4A In a steam generator of the type in which water is passed into a shell in which are mounted U-tubes containing heating medium, the U- tubes are arranged on a tube plate 6 so that the "hot leg" tubes 15 are more widely spaced apart in at least one direction in space that the "cold leg" tubes 16. Water is passed through an annular inlet 19 on the outside of a skirt 20 to meet the heating tubes adjacent the tube plate, and steam passes out over cyclone devices 25 in horizontally spaced vertical planes and sludge draw-off ducts 33 extend horizontally between these planes. In Fig. 3 the tubes are arranged in concentric rings and sludge draw-off ducts 36 extend vertically between the rings. In a modification of the arrangement shown in Fig. 3 (Fig. 5, not shown) water circulation is improvided by the provision of a central duct having at its upper end a Venturi and a secondary water inlet-heated water being drawn in at the top of the duct and discharged adjacent the tube plate.
