Abstract
1437054 Speedometers MOTO METER GmbH 17 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 40362/74 Heading G1K In an eddy-current speedometer including a permanent magnet 5 rotatable by an input shaft 4, an eddy-current body 9, Fig. 1 or 19, Fig. 3, in the magnetic field of the magnet 5, and a temperature compensating member 13, Fig. 1 or 113, Fig. 3, of a material the magnetic permeability of which decreases with increasing temperature, mounted between the magnet 5 and the body 9 or 19, the degree of temperature compensation is adjustable during manufacture of the speedometer by removing material from the compensating member without affecting its overall dimensions. The material removal may be by stamping, to form apertures, or by reducing the thickness of some areas. In Fig. 1 the eddy-current body 9, the compensating member 13, and a soft iron magnetic circuit member 6 are flat discs. In Fig. 3, the magnetic circuit member 16 is a ring surrounding a bell-shaped eddy-current body 19, the temperature compensating member 113 being secured about the inner periphery of the body 19.
