Abstract

1437018 Flavourings for food and tobacco INTERNATIONAL FLAVORS & FRAGRANCES Inc 26 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972 (2) 25 Aug 1972 (2)] 35643/73 Headings A2B and A2C [Also in Divisions A5 C2 and C5] The organoleptic properties of food and tobacco are altered by adding compounds of formula (I) wherein A or B is where R is hydrogen or lower alkoxy containing 1 to 5 C atoms, R 1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl containing 1 to 5 C atoms, R 2 and R 3 are the same or different lower alkyl containing 1 to 4 C atoms are R 2 and R 3 together are alkylene containing 2 to 4 C atoms and m and n are integers of 1 to 5 inclusive, and (m + n) is 2 to 7, and wherein one wavy line is a double bond, the other two wavy lines being single bonds, and the remaining valence of each C atom is satisfied by hydrogen or lower alkyl of 1 to 5 C atoms, or (II) where one of X or Y is phenyl and the other is hydrogen, one of the wavy or dashed lines is a double bond and the other two are single bonds, and A is where R b and R' b are the same or different C 1 -C 5 alkyl or taken together form a C 2 -C 4 alkylene group or (iii) The flavouring effect may be tomato, turnip, carrot, walnut, cocoa or grapefruit.
