1386060 Flavourings FIRMENICH SA 26 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972 21 March 1973] 49983/ 73 Headings A2B and A2C [Also in Divisions A5 and C2] Foodstuff and tobacco compositions contain a compound of the formula: where X is -CO-CHR<SP>2</SP>-CR<SP>3</SP>=CHR<SP>4</SP>, -CO-CR<SP>2</SP>= CR<SP>3</SP>-CH 2 R<SP>4</SP> or -CO-CHR<SP>2</SP>-CHR<SP>3</SP>-CHR<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>1</SP> is H or alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are H or one of them may be alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms, the ring is saturated or contains 1 or 2 double bonds in the positions indicated by the dotted lines and Z represents a double bond oxygen atom, or, when the ring contains one double bond at position 1, 2 can represent a hydroxyl group and a hydrogen atom both at position 4 of the ring.
