Abstract

1436926 Vehicle chassis constructions DAIMLER-BENZ AG 25 Feb 1974 [1 March 1973] 8472/74 Headings B7H and B7D An industrial vehicle which is equipped, in use, with exchangeable work implements e.g. excavators and grabs, comprises a main frame formed by two side members 3 connected by two cross members 2, and an auxiliary frame 4 which is detachably mounted on the main frame by screws 11, the main frame carrying a distributor gearbox 10 and suspension for the front and rear wheels 1, and the auxiliary frame carrying a drive engine 6, a change-speed gearbox, a radiator 9, and a fuel tank 8. As shown, the side members of the main and auxiliary frames are U-shaped in cross-section and the auxiliary frame may be removed from the main frame by a longitudinal sliding movement. The forward ends of the side members of the auxiliary frame 4 may be constructed as energy-dissipating shock devices and in the illustrated embodiment carry a bumper bar (18) Fig. 3, (not shown). The gearboxes 7 and 10 are connected by an articulated shaft 19. The auxiliary frame 4 may carry further auxiliary devices such as a hydraulic pump 15, a fan 16, an air filter, and an air compressor. The ends 17, Fig. 2, of the auxiliary frame side members are curved inwardly to facilitate assembly of the main and auxiliary frames.
