Abstract

1436774 Electrostatic developer AUSTRALIA DEPARTMENT OF SUPPLY SECRETARY OF 7 May 1973 [15 May 1972] 21727/73 Heading G2H An electrostatic developer, of the kind having suspended toner particles in an insulating carrier liquid, is produced by causing the particles to be formed by precipitation within a liquid, so that they are not oxidized by the atmosphere during manufacture. Two insulating materials are dissolved in, or mixed homogeneously in, an insulating solvent or melt, and react to form suspended particles which are usable as toner particles or can be aggregated to form toner particles. Aggregation is brought about by diluting the liquid in which the particles were formed with a second insulating liquid, having a lower solvent power with respect to the material of the suspended particles. One of the materials used may be coloured, so that the toner particles produced are coloured. Materials which can be used are listed.
