Abstract

1358157 Making dispersions AGFA-GEVAERT 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 00447/74 Divided out of 1356921 Heading B1C [Also in Division C3] A method of making a dispersion comprises simultaneously and continuously feeding a first liquid which comprises a solution of the substance to be dispersed and a second liquid which is a non-solvent for the substance but miscible therewith through a passageway defined by closely spaced surfaces relatively rotatable to each other whereby material passing through the passageway is subjected to turbulence. The apparatus which may be used is similar to some of those described in Application Specification 1356921. The examples relate to the formation of a dispersion of ethylcellulose in an ethanol-water mixture, and of polymethyl methacrylate in an aqueous gelatin solution.
